Welcome to The English Slayer Podcast: Episode One – Homophones.

Well, well… I’m sure you think it’s a nightmare to keep up when you are in the middle of a dictation and there are SO many words that sound just the same. Those are homophones, my dudes! English is basically a bunch of arbitrary sounds put together that we gotta play with.

Okay, let’s start… Male as in man, human being of the masculine gender… Which other word comes to your mind with the same pronunciation? Exactly, mail! I’ve just checked my mail and your present from Amazon hasn’t arrived yet.

Piece, as in piece of paper, piece of work, piece of advice…. But peace is the opposite of war. Speaking of war, what did some Nazi officers wear during World War II? They wore leather trench coats.

What about… week? Think about health. That’s right, I’ve been feeling weak the whole week. And, I’ve just spotted a hole in my sock. Poor me!
