Get your past-tense regular verb pronunciation right!

This actitivity will help us practice the infamous pronunciation of the past tense of regular verbs (the ones ended in -ed) that most of us conveniently forget about while speaking or reading out loud. So, I've set up a Voki with a fancy avatar called Julian the job-seeking millennial who will say six phrases for you to repeat until the end of time. Ready?

*This activity is aimed at students from 1º to 4º de ESO or from elementary to intermediate level of English.

Click on this link to open the Voki, repeat, and classify the past simple and past participle forms according to their '-ed ending' pronunciation:

  • /id/ (for verbs which infinitive ends in the sound /t/ or /d/)
  • /d/ (for verbs which infinitive ends in a voiced sound such as l, v, n, m, r, b, g, w, y, z, and vowel sounds, or diphthongs)
  • /t/ (for verbs which infinitive ends in a voiceless sound such as p, k, s, ch, sh, f, x, or h)
